The silver style is complemented with dark grey doors with 'East Coast' branding in the centre.

Buffet car 10302 is now completed (part of set BN02)

DVT 82202, 11402, 11302, 11299, 12302, 12448, 12450, 12402 and 12232 are also noted at Doncaster Wabtec at various stages of repaint.

Just found this on fotopic. (not mine)

White numbers on silver look easy to read!

Chrissa many thanks for that link.

When this livery was explained to me, it sounded good, but on seeing it its hideous!! I can only hope that its some secret precursor to Virgin being awarded the franchise, its clearly designed with their livery in mind!

I'm going to play Devils' Advocate here, and say I don't actually mind that livery!
(That being said, I'm used to seeing buses from my bedroom window that are a solid silver colour with white fleetnames and numbers)

I don't think its too bad either, but then I like the East Coast branding on the NX livery on the MK3s

I think it would have looked better with purple doors, but it's nicer than the NX livery.

it screams undercoat. its a perfectly plain livery which won't show up through vynals.

I can't say I'm a fan. I've just passed the set on Bounds Green. The plain livery just shows up all the dents and bumps in the sides of the vehicles. When it gets dirty they'll look even worse.

I have to say that the coaches are actually much better than I thought, but its the DVT that I don't like.

Funny co-incidence after my above Virgin comment.

(Thanks to RailUk for the links)

I saw 2 sets yesterday in the new livery (or the same set twice), 1 was in Doncaster West Yard at 0820, the other we passed whilst i was on 1558 KGX-DON (EC was heading south in a queue of trains).
I think it looks ok and certainly better than the very worn ex GNER/NXEC livery.
This new livery has a WSMR look to me, another OA on the EC route anyone :-)

I think it is hideous, but it obviously depends on the light- 1A04's photo makes it look a lot better than Charissa's.

Given that there'll be another operator in two years it makes sense to go for the undercoat look though.

I prefer this to the NX livery. I don't like any livery where it consists of 60% white or more, because it just screams "lack of imagination"... NatEx and Firstgroup are the main offenders for cheapo liveries.
this East Coast livery may be mainly one colour, but it is a shiny silver colour which goes to show there has been at least SOME thought go into it, rather than "um, let's have it white"
