Someone's had a fight with a box of jaffa cakes which explains the horrible seating colours.

Nice that the Turbostars are having proper seats! Some of the comments are interesting too...suggesting the 172's will head back to the ROSCOs when Gospel Oak to Barking is electrified in a few years, along with the 378's being fitted with proper seats after the Olympics! Interesting speculation, I only slightly believe the first one, but the GOTB electrification is more than likley a long way off!

There are going to be eight 172's for London Overground. At the current time 172004 to 172007 have been delivered to Willesden. 172004 and 172005 in service by 17th July. A picture of 172004 in passenger use is now in the rail magazines.

I imagine there may be a 150 or two still in service to get hold of but I imagine the GOBLIN will be mainly 172 operation by then - providing they work reliably, which might not be the case!

They are running late owing to this exhaust issue. The one thats in service is restricted to 60mph.

Had a Ride on one of these yesterday (172005). They aren't that bad although we stopped straight after Blackhorse road with a H-Vac problem (according to what driver said) and 172004 is out with door faults. Also the seats aren't very comfy either. Also the unti could not get above 30/35mph

so They are already starting to have their running in issues.

60mph?

That's a bit generous for the GOBLIN! According to TfL they are meant to be restricted to 45mph until the exhausts are rebuilt.

Here's pictures of 172004 and 172005 on their first days in traffic:

Heard today (from a very good source) that LOROL had managed to drop one in the dirt yesterday, suffering a ruptured fuel tank in the process.
