His input into the forum during his time here was superb, his knowledge of the industry was up there with the best.

He will certainly be missed, not just in the real world but also his online presence.

RIP.

My condolences and deepest sympathies to his family, friends, colleagues and to those who witnessed and attended the incident. He is definitely a loss to the railway industry.

I don't really think this is the best place to discuss the rights and wrongs of the media reporting of the incident. It would be much better to leave conjecture and hearsay to one side until we hear the coroner's report and any reports by RAIB, should they investigate.

Any references have been deleted out and further references will also be deleted. I hope that is OK.

I've been asked to pass on the details for Alex's funeral, which is due to be held this coming week.

The Funeral Service will take place at Agecroft Crematorium, Salford on Thursday August 12 at 2pm; donations may be made in memory of Alex to RMT Widows & Orphans Fund, c/o Darwen Funeral Services, 59-61 Blackburn Rd, Darwen. BB3 1EJ. Tel 01254 873618.

After a number of issues and frank discussions, Alex and a number of other users requested complete account deletion. He came back as Cummins. We are looking at this policy in detail due to the damage that this does to the database and the fluidity of posts.
