Low Moor station has not been affected by budget cuts and will go ahead, however its expected opening time has been pushed back 2 years to 2014:

It would be interesting to see if it survives October.

It would seem WYITA are funding it all themselves, so the only risk would be a further cut in their financial support from central government

Indeed.

However, it should be underlined that the article says that Low Moor APPEARS to have escaped the funding cuts rather than Low Moor definately has escaped funding cuts.

Only opening 21 years late then! Wasn't Low Moor originally to open circa 1993 when TransPerience opened, along with the proposed Spen Valley (Bradford - Wakefield) Tram(-Train) Project?

21 years late is good for Bradford. Look at how much progress Westfield have made in six years!

I was surprised that when housing development took place around Low Moor that S106 funding wasn't a requirement, but then thats poor local authority town planning for you. Will Low Moor be a basic affair, or are there plans for a car park/ticket office, etc.?

Although generally unfavourable with short-term dereliction, Westfield not being built may be a blessing in disguise, as doesn't it safeguard the route of a potential Bradford Crossrail?

Its a shame that Bradford is just seen as a railway (and motorway) cul-de-sac, rather than a gateway to the Dales.

Not really, to be honest, as the Midland Hotel, HMRC, Crown Court and Victoria Hotel are all in the way...

Bradford specialises in 'poor' local authority planning. 'Poor' as in 'T Dan Smith' and 'John Poulson' poor...

If Low Moor is getting built, I am guessing it would be similar to Berry Brow - Wooden plaforms but the wood is just recycled plastic beams or will it be the full concrete job with brick platforms.

Would it be designated as a P+R, perhaps?

Woodern platforms haven't been built since 1991 in this area. The more recent stations (Brighouse & Glasshoughton) are far more substantial.

I also imagine it'd be a full scale installation, not a plank of wood jobbie.

There will be a carpark. I'd offer a link to the relevant document from WYITA's Rail Working Group but it's disappeared from their web site. Makes sense to have a car park though as it's just off the M606.

Ideally there could be signs on the M62 offering a park-and-ride service from Low Moor into Leeds and Bradford, like there is on the M1 near Luton Airport Parkway, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking :?
